This is my first review of a tech that is not related to photography and I chose the Proscenic 811GB robot vacuum cleaner, which impressed me with how much it makes life easier and helps the household. Proscenic 811GB is a semi-smart robot vacuum cleaner with a mop function that allows you to wipe the floor with water or a cleaning solutions. One of the main advantages of this gadget is the combination of functionality and at low price point.
After a long research, reading feedback and reviews I decided to go for this robot vacuum cleaner. For this research a lot of help was this website https://smartrobotreviews.com/buying-guide/ There you will find reviews and detailed features of almost every robot vacuum cleaner currently available on the market. The site itself allows you to search with variety of filters such as price, battery capacity and different features. This way, you will be able to find the most suitable home helper for you.
I personally bought Proscenic 811GB robot vacuum cleaner. My main criteria for choosing this product were the battery capacity, the mop functiononality and the possibility of the vacuum cleaner to be controlled through the application in your phone. The Proscenic 811GB has a 3000 mAh battery that allows it to operate autonomously for about 2 hours, it has a water tank for mopping, and can be controlled over the phone - turn on and off over the Internet, set commands and create schedule for cleaning. The design of the robot vacuum cleaner is impressive. The sky blue color combined with black will attract the attention of everyone. The robot itself is not high compared to most product competition, which helps it to go under low furniture and space. Overall Proscenic 811GB has a modern design without any redundant stuff. At the top there are 2 buttons - to switch on/off and connect to WiFi, and on the side there is a knob that completely turns off the vacuum cleaner. This button is used in case you will not use the robot for a long time.
Proscenic is a Taiwanese company that specializes in the production of electronic cleaning products. The company has a 20-year history on the market of vacuum cleaners and home appliances. Thanks to this experience, the company has produced a quality product. The materials used (mainly plastic) are of durable and the built quality is wonderful.
Functionality and ease of use
As I said before Proscenic 811GB has most of the modern features you would like in a robot vacuum cleaner. Phone control, mop feature, high-capacity battery, self-charging - these are just some of the robot's features. The Proscenic 811GB is extremely easy to use - just turn it on and its ready to clent. It's a little hustle to connect the robot to the WiFi for the first time, but there's a special leaflet in the box that shows how to do it in a few steps. After the first connection, the vacuum cleaner automatically connects on its own every time it is turned on. The phone application is also very simple, although there is no Bulgarian language, it is very user-frienly and easy to navigate. If you strugle with the smartphone app, you can use the IR remote control included in the kit, which has exactly the same commands as the phone application.
Pros and cons
|1. Has a wet mopping feature with water flow control||1. There is no possibility to create a floor map|
|2. Has an smarthpone application for control over internet, feature missing from other vacuum cleaners from this price range||2. Not suitable for large apartments/homes|
|3. Durable battery allowing up to 2 hours of cleaning||3. Sometimes the robot has difficulties finding the docking station|
|4. Many extra accessories included in the box|
|5. Low noise level
|6. Low price
Review and personal impressions
In addition to the search criteria I mentioned above, I was checking the moving pattern of Proscenic 811GB - how it recognizes the obstacles and how it moves around the room in general. And maybe that's the the thing that weight in the most on my choice, as most "non smart" vacuum cleaners (which do not have the ability to create a map of the apartment) move absolutely chaotic through the rooms and the empty spaces. The Proscenic 811GB, on the other hand, runs in the typical zigzag smart robot model and thus rarely leaves unclean space. Also, once the robot is done with cleaning the middle of the room, it goes one more time along the walls of the space to clean all the edges, which again is unbelievable for the "non smart" robot vacuum cleaner. He does very well with the obstacles and never gets stuck in even very narrow spaces. Indeed Proscenic engineers have perfected the algorithms of the robot to such an extent that even without floor mapping it manages to get through all the obstacles and spaces.
My impressions from the wet-mopping feature are good. As I expected, the robot can not replace the real mop and can not remove any stubborn and dry stains with just one pass. But the Proscenic 811GB has a special cleaning mode that rotates the robot in one spot a couple of times, which helps with the stubborn stains. After the first few tries, I was a little disappointed with the mop feature, but after a while I realized that it still does the job well and with a little control over the stubborn spots it cleans the floor perfectly. The water container has an internal pump and the water flow is electronically controlled by the robot itself. This was the second most important criteria for me, because in the most competitive products with a mopping feature, the water simply leaks out of the container without any control. And if you eventually leave the robot in one place or when charging the whole water will leak out on the floor, which may destroy a wooden flooring. Still another advantage of the water tank attachment is that it simultaneously wipes and sucks the dust, which is a feature that only few robot vacuum cleaners have.
Another advantage are the many free accessories you get when you buy Proscenic 811GB. In the box, besides the standard accessories, you have spare side brushes, an extra Hepa filter, another microfiber cloth, a cleaning brush and a magnetic stripe barrier that can be used as a virtual wall and prevents the robot going to another room.
The noise level for me is standard. By technical specifications Proscenic 811GB is a fairly quiet vacuum cleaner. Comparing it with a high-class Roomba is really quiet, but I would not say you can sleep while it is cleaning, as advertised.
One of the down sides for me is that this robot is not suitable for larger homes and apartments with many rooms. Since the Proscenic 811GB does not have the room mapping technology, it will be very difficult to navigate in large multi-room apartment. For this type of homes, mapping is a function without which the cleaning would not be effective.
Another minus I noticed after almost 2 months of using the Proscenic 811GB is that it sometimes struggles finding its docking station. Again, this is due to the lack of a floor mapping feature. This robot can not remember the exact location of the charger, and when the battery is low or you ask it to return to the charger manually, it starts scanning the room it is in for the charging station. And shurely if it does not "see" it because of an obstacle, or if its in another room, the robot starts looking for the charges by going randomly in every room. Overall, this is not a big problem, and in 80% of cases it quickly finds the docking station, but there are times when it runs out of battery and just stays in one place.
Where to buy
Since Proscenic robot vacuum cleaners are not sold in Bulgaria, it buy the robot from Amazon Germany. Below you will find links to the product and price:
